There are so many ways to go about creating your wedding day look as a desi bride. We have broken it down into categories so you can start with the one that is most important to you. Every bride has their own unique spin on what they want to stand out and how people will remember them. We’ve share a bride’s various looks created by Sonia C. This bride is the perfect example of a well thought out wedding looks for a multiday affair!
Whether you create a different pinterest boards for each event or a spreadsheet with detailed info, you need to find a system that works for you. Yes, we know you all have several secret boards on pinterest dedicated to your wedding :). When you look back on your wedding pictures you don’t want to find that you looked exactly the same in all your pictures. There are 50 shades of you (yes, we just said that) and this is your chance to show multiple sides.
Write out or pin the colors for each event. Create a separate page for each event so that you can look at each event as a whole and also put them side by side to look at them as a group. Look at your event colors and use that to choose your outfit colors or vice versa get your outfits first then choose the colors for your events. Make sure your outfit compliments the background and does not blend in with it. If you backdrop is Radiant orchid then your outfit should not be the same color. Maybe it has a border or an accent in radiant orchid so it pops. Your outfit color for each event should be different, otherwise you are going to look similar in your pictures.
What type of outfit will you be wearing to your multiday wedding events. Creating your wedding day look involves planning ahead for all your events. Do you want to incorporate various styles of desi wedding clothes? Wear a salwar kameez to one event an anarkali to another, a lehenga to your third a saree for your wedding, and a gown for the reception? There are so many options as designers and brides are inventing their own hybrid outfits why wear one style to all? Also the amount of work on your wedding outfits is a factor to consider. Your wedding and reception outfits should be the heavier outfits relatively speaking. While the thought that a bride must wear a heavy outfit is thankfully no longer the norm, brides can now truly represent themselves. Is simple and elegant is your style then go for it. If you are having a beach wedding there is no way that a heavily embellished lehenga makes sense.
Thankfully with pinterest around you can curate your hair updos from millions of pictures. Whether you find them from celebrities on the red carpet to fellow brides have fun test them out. Yes, we know you’re not a hair stylist but you can mess with your hair and attempt a few looks if only the front part with your jewelry to see how you would like it. This way when you finally get around to doing your hair and makeup trial you have it narrowed down for your stylist. Will wear your hair half up, all down with soft curls, in a braided updo, an edgy up do, a side bun? or All of the above? You have a stylist on hand so take advantage and treat your hair to several different wedding hair styles.
Not all desi girls love makeup while others swear they were a makeup artist in a past life. At the end of the day your makeup is there to enhance your beauty. We have both types of brides on our staff here. For those of you who want a more natural look opt for something that pops on your wedding day. When you put on your wedding jewelry and the bridal clothes it can be very easy to get washed out in all of that, we need to see you and your face and maybe a thicker eye liner or just a bold lip might just do the trick. For those brides that love makeup have fun and experiment with different looks. Maybe play up a whimsical look for your mehndi with glitter in your eye makeup or even your lips. Do you want to be a modern bride with a bold lip or a smokey eye? What of your reception look?
